Arrived in sub zero temperatures, and staff were very helpful in keeping the room as warm as we needed .Food served in the bar was a treat, with great selection of well cheffed dishes.

Had a lovely couple of nights staying at the Golden Lion. Staff were friendly and welcoming.The room was a good size, clean and warm. Only minor problem in our room was that due to the sloping ceiling in our room, it was difficult for my (tall) husband to use the bath.The breakfast was good - nice choice of fruit juice/tea/coffee with cereals, yogurt, toast and or full English breakfast.I forgot my hairdryer but was able to borrow one from reception.We also had an evening meal on our second night - again the food was very good.

Room was large , warm and comfortable and clean . Comfy bed and lovely recently refurbished bathroom with a great shower . Lunch was good and value for money , and breakfast was very nice , again served in a recently refurbished dining room . Staff were very friendly , we would definitely stay again .

Warm welcome, lovely refurbished room and good breakfast. Had a delicious meal in the pub and stayed for new years eve. Made to feel at home. Really enjoyed ourselves.

After a long day of traveling, getting cold and wet by a winter storm at an local event we turned up at a nice open fire and friendly helpful staff(Amy). Due to booking.com getting the room information wrong, Amy had to run around and get a room ready for for 3 Adults and 2 children (1 and 3yrs)which she did no problem. Rooms where clean and tidy, with comfortable mattresses and nice bedding. Amy even got us a heater blower to warm up the room and help to dry our cloths. The lady who served and cooked a fine breakfast in the morning was also helpful and chatty, really nice staff.Down side, the lift was out of order which made abit of a hike to the top floor with the baggage that comes with 2 young children and a day out?Also the evening meal we had was not great and was average to poor.But great pub,with great staff with a warm welcome and nice beer.Than you.

Brilliant night in the pub and the room was great

This Pub with rooms is being totally refurbished so the rooms are clean and modern and the staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful.Breakfast and dinner is good standard pub grub and the service was excellent.

Stayed one night before travelling back to Scotland. Lovely quiet room and a relaxing night's sleep. Enjoyed our evening meal served by a charming young lad. All staff and locals very friendly. Breakfast next day was splendid. Would not hesitate to return. Many thanks

Lovely place great staff. Excellent breakfast & meals

Service with a smile, good food, superb room all at a reasonable price.

The staff were great from the minute I arrived until I left. They went out of their way to help me secure my bike and made me feel most welcome. I didn’t have an evening meal but what I saw looked good. The breakfast was fantastic and the service was excellent. I’d definitely stay again.

Really nice rooms, very clean and the beds are very comfortable. Breakfast was really good and nothing was too much trouble. Bar staff were very friendly and helpful and the evening meals were excellent. Beautiful lasagne in particular, piping hot! Would stay here again and would recommend it.

We had a fantastic stay st the Golden Lion.Ian was great,all staff very welcoming,food great.We had a wonderful time,and would definitely recommend.
